Our Commitment

Erie Preparatory Academy (“EPA”) is committed to providing an inclusive environment and making its Website and digital information accessible to students, families, employees, applicants, alumni, donors, and members of the public, including individuals with disabilities.

We believe that accessibility supports our educational mission and helps every member of our community obtain information, communicate with the Academy, and participate in Academy programs and opportunities.

Accessibility Standard

EPA is working toward aligning the Website with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, Version 2.2, Level AA (“WCAG 2.2 AA”).

 

WCAG provides guidance for making digital content more perceivable, operable, understandable, and compatible with a range of browsers, devices, and assistive technologies.

Our use of WCAG 2.2 AA as an accessibility goal does not mean that every page or third-party feature has been independently certified as fully conformant.

Accessibility Measures

As part of our ongoing accessibility efforts, EPA seeks to:

  • Provide meaningful alternative text for informative images;

  • Use headings and page structures that support screen-reader navigation;

  • Maintain sufficient text and background contrast;

  • Support keyboard navigation;

  • Use descriptive links and buttons;

  • Provide clear labels and instructions for online forms;

  • Avoid relying only on color to communicate information;

  • Provide captions, transcripts, or alternatives for important multimedia content where reasonably available;

  • Improve the accessibility of downloadable documents;

  • Review new Website content and functionality with accessibility in mind;

  • Address reported accessibility barriers; and

  • Work with Website vendors and content providers to improve accessibility.

Ongoing Improvement

Digital accessibility is an ongoing process. EPA periodically reviews Website content, templates, forms, documents, and third-party integrations and seeks to improve accessibility as technology, standards, and Academy content change.

Some older documents, archived materials, embedded media, or third-party services may not yet fully meet EPA’s accessibility goals.

EPA does not control every third-party platform linked to or embedded in the Website. However, when a third-party feature creates a barrier, EPA will make reasonable efforts to identify an accessible alternative or provide the requested information through another method.

Requesting Assistance or an Alternative Format

If you are unable to access information, complete a form, download a document, or use a Website feature because of a disability, please contact EPA.

We will make reasonable efforts to provide the information, service, or document through an accessible alternative method.

When contacting us, please include:

  • The webpage address or name of the document;

  • A brief description of the accessibility barrier;

  • The format or assistance you need;

  • Your preferred method of contact; and

  • Your contact information.

 

Please do not include confidential student, medical, financial, or other sensitive information in an ordinary email.

EPA aims to acknowledge accessibility inquiries within five business days. Resolution times may vary depending on the nature of the request and whether assistance from a third-party provider is required.

Formal Complaints and Other Rights

Submitting an accessibility concern through the contact information above does not limit any rights or remedies available under applicable law or Academy policy.

Requests involving accommodations for admissions, academics, athletics, employment, housing, campus visits, or other Academy programs should also be directed to the appropriate Academy office so the request can be evaluated through the applicable accommodation process.

Statement Review

EPA will review and update this Accessibility Statement periodically as its Website, accessibility practices, and applicable standards evolve.
